On Thursday September 3rd the first KDC IPC (Independent Parallel CDAs) workshop was held at LVNL. In this workshop 25 experts of various backgrounds (pilots, air traffic controllers, researchers) brainstormed on operational concepts to enable the simultaneous and independent use of parallel runways with Continuous Descent Approaches. Participants of the workshop were representatives of a large number of institutions, both Dutch and foreign: LVNL, KLM, AAS, NLR, To70, Delft University of Technology, Eurocontrol (EU) en MITRE (USA).
The results of the workshop are currently being processed by the IPC project team. By the end of 2009 a second workshop will take place at which the most promising concepts will be analysed further. More details on the projects are to be found at the IPC project page.
