AIRE project successfully completed

The KDC has made a major contribution to the successful completion of the AIRE project, commissioned by SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU). The KDC role was to provide NLR expertise to the AIRE projectteam. In the project the KDC partners KLM and LVNL worked together with Delta Airlines, NATS and Eurocontrol Maastricht.

KDC op informatiebijeenkomst gemeente Haarlemmermeer over CROS pilot 3B+

Op 9 november 2011 vond in Hoofddorp een informatieavond van de gemeente Haarlemmermeer over CROS pilot 3B+ plaats. Tijdens de bijeenkomst gaf de wethouder Economie, Schiphol en Cultuur van de Gemeente Haarlemmermeer een toelichting aan aanwezige bewoners over het standpunt van de gemeente.
De programmamanager van het KDC gaf daarbij een inhoudelijke toelichting op de pilot. Daarbij werd aan de hand van een presentatie ingegaan op de techniek en de effecten van de ingevoerde vaste bochtstraal op de Spijkerboor vertrekroute vanaf baan 24 (de Kaagbaan). Ook was er gelegenheid voor vragen en discussie.

Second residents meeting CROS pilot 3b+

On February 28, 2011 KDC informed representatives of residents about the technical progress of the CROS Pilot 3b+ (plus) during a second meeting at the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. The meeting gave attendees insight and more background knowledge of the technical progress and the way the analysis for the evaluation is structured.

At the first meeting on October 5, 2010, KDC gave a comprehensive explanation on the aim and background of the pilot, including the location of the route and the expected changes in air traffic. The second meeting focused on the progress of the pilot and the preparation of the evaluation.

Successful ATM Knowledge & Development Event

On the 16th of November, the KDC organised the ATM Knowledge & Development Event 2010 at the Schiphol Group headquarters. With approximately 120 participants, inspiring presentations and great atmosphere the event was a great success.

The theme this year was ‘Collaborative Innovation: Real progress or waste of money?’. Important figures in Dutch and European aviation, such as Patrick Ky (SESAR JU), luitenant-generaal Jac Jansen (Royal Dutch Air Force), Hans Alders (Alders tables) and Jeroen Fukken (Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment), gave their vision on this theme, led by chairwoman Wouke van Scherrenburg. Less annoyance in parts of Hoofddorp and Nieuw-Vennep

CROS pilot 3b+ launched

KLM, Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) and Schiphol start on October 21st, after a positive opinion of the Schiphol Regional (CROS), a one-year experiment (CROS pilot 3b) to further reduce the dispersion of traffic on the Spijkerboor route from the Kaagbaan. From that date, almost all aircraft operated by KLM will use the radius-to-fix navigation technique (also known as RF-leg) on this route.

What is KDC?

The foundation Knowledge & Development Centre (KDC) sets itself the task to find valuable and innovative solutions for the sustainable development of the Mainport Schiphol. In the KDC the Dutch aviation partners KLM, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) work together with universities and other research institutes to innovate the Schiphol operation. The KDC work programme is guided by the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda for Aviation, which has been developed in cooperation with the Dutch government.
