


On November 3rd KLM and LVNL organised in co-operation with CROS a residents meeting on the subject of CROS Pilot 3b'+ (accent-plus). The objective of this pilot project is to investigate the possibilities for further reducing noise annoyance through concentrating traffic better in between the communities of Hoofddorp and Nieuw-Vennep.The meeting provided an opportunity for the attendees to get informed on the expected changes in annoyance resulting from increasing the turn radius of CROS pilot 3b’+ route. In support of the communication, the KDC showed computer animations of the changes.
Read more...On the 4th and 5th of November the Innovation Relay 2009 (formerly the Day of Maarssen) took place at Airbase Valkenburg. The theme of these days was, just as in 2005 and 2007, innovative developments in construction, logistics, aviation, water and traffic & transport. KDC supported the Innovation Relay with several stands in the aviation pavilion and a workshop about the SARA project.
The highlight was a demonstration for the Minister of Transport, Mr. Eurlings about the development of Continuous Descent Approaches (CDA’s) that forms an important part of the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda for Aviation.
On Thursday September 3rd the first KDC IPC (Independent Parallel CDAs) workshop was held at LVNL. In this workshop 25 experts of various backgrounds (pilots, air traffic controllers, researchers) brainstormed on operational concepts to enable the simultaneous and independent use of parallel runways with Continuous Descent Approaches. Participants of the workshop were representatives of a large number of institutions, both Dutch and foreign: LVNL, KLM, AAS, NLR, To70, Delft University of Technology, Eurocontrol (EU) en MITRE (USA).

The KDC programme ‘Human Factors in future Air Traffic Management’ organized a successful conference to present the content of the programme. The conference took place on request of the KDC management team to make the content of the programme more accessible to the stakeholders.

The foundation Knowledge & Development Centre (KDC) sets itself the task to find valuable and innovative solutions for the sustainable development of the Mainport Schiphol. In the KDC the Dutch aviation partners KLM, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) work together with universities and other research institutes to innovate the Schiphol operation. The KDC work programme is guided by the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda for Aviation, which has been developed in cooperation with the Dutch government.
